In addition to the regular timeline, PowerDirector 18 includes a storyboard mode that displays clips as thumbnails. If you have a large movie with a ton of clips, this can help you stay organized, giving you a simple “big picture” overview. For more detailed work, though, the timeline is best. It has a strong selection of effects, which include the usual blurs and stylistic effects, along with things like fireworks and virtual waterfalls. The effects are categorized, and there’s even a romance category, making it a great choice for wedding videos. There are several video overlays, such as caption boxes and a few little animations, which include light bulbs, spinning stars and, yes, several romantic choices. There’s also a dedicated section for particle effects.
